Indian start-up Simple Energy has launched its debut electric 2-wheeler, the Simple ONE. Priced at INR 1,45,000 without the charger and INR 1,58,000 with a 750W charger, the vehicle features a 5 kWh battery pack, delivering peak power of 8.5 kW, a max torque of 72 Nm, and a top speed of 105 km.
The Simple Energy EV offers three modes: “Echo” as the base mode, followed by “Ride,” “Dash,” and “Sonic” as the superpower modes. It features an IP67 battery and has dimensions of 1900 mm in length and 758 mm in width.
Notably, the Simple ONE holds the distinction of being the fastest electric two-wheeler in its segment, accelerating from 0 to 40 kmph in just 2.77 seconds. It is also the first e-scooter to incorporate a thermal management system developed in collaboration with IIT-Indore, ensuring efficient heat dissipation and minimizing the risk of thermal runaways. Simple Energy has filed 212 patents for various components of the vehicle, including the battery, motor, swing arm, rims with tires, chassis, brake systems, switches, lights, and mirrors.
With regards to retail distribution, Simple Energy plans to expand its operations to 40-50 cities, establishing a network of 160-180 retail stores. The company has garnered over 1 lakh pre-bookings in 18 months.
The company aims to facilitate customer deliveries, starting with Bengaluru, while also focusing on R&D and green mobility. Deliveries begin on June6, 2023.
