Ola has launched its entry-level electric scooter, the S1 Air, at INR 79,999 (ESP) The S1 Air gets three riding modes – Eco, Normal and Sports. In Eco mode, it has a claimed range of 101km.
This price tag of INR 79,999 (ex-showroom).is an introductory price and only available to those who reserve the scooter on or before October 24. The amount for reserving the scooter is Rs 999. According to the company, the purchase window for the S1 Air will open in February 2023 and deliveries will commence in early April. While the S1 is priced at INR 99,999 (ex-showroom), the S1 Pro costs INR 1,39,999 (ex-showroom).
The Ola S1 Air is equipped with a smaller 2.5kWh battery pack (0-100 percent home charge in 4 hours 30 minutes) and a hub-mounted motor making peak power of 4.5kW, figures which endow it with a claimed top speed of 90kph and a claimed range of 101km in Eco mode.
The S1 Air features a more conventional telescopic front fork and twin rear shock absorbers, as well as drum brakes at both ends. Thanks to these changes, the S1 Air tips the scales at 99kg, making it much lighter than the 125kg Ola S1 Pro.
The seat on the S1 Air has been redesigned and it sports a more basic single-piece tubular grab handle. Storage space on the S1 Air stands at 34 litres, as opposed to 36 litres on its more expensive siblings. It has a flat floorboard, which makes ferrying luggage around easier than on the curved floorboard found on the other two Ola e-scooters.
Ola has also announced the roll-out of MoveOS 3 along with the launch of the S1 Air. The latest over-the-air upgrade adds more than 20 new features and comes with a bunch of improvements on performance. Some of the newly launched features in MoveOS 3 include Proximity Unlock, Party Mode, Moods, and compatibility to Ola’s Hypercharger network. With Ola Hyperchargers, users will now be able to charge their scooters up to 50 km in 15 minutes, at a charging speed of 3 km per minute. In addition to these, the latest MoveOS 3 update also introduces more features such as Hill Hold, Profiles and Vacation Mode amongst many others. Ola will open beta testing for the MoveOS 3 to all Ola S1 owners and a public roll-out will happen in December 2023.
