Mercedes-AMG GLE 53 launched. Priced at INR 1.2 crore

Mercedes-AMG GLE 53 4MATIC Coupe has been launched at a price of INR 1.20 crore. The GLE 53 4Matic+ is also the first-ever 53-Series AMG in India, replacing the earlier Mercedes-AMG GLE 43. Also, this is the debut of the coupe-SUV version of the current-gen GLE. Mercedes-AMG GLE 53 4MATIC Coupe is powered by a 3.0 L, in-line, six-cylinder, twin-turbo petrol engine. The powerhouse is paired with a 48 V mild hybrid system. The addition of this electrical architecture allows the GLE 53 to run a small electrical compressor in harmony with a larger turbo, which makes for more linear responses and reduced lag. Outputs are 435PS at 6,100 rpm and 520 Nm at 1,800-5,800 rpm. The EQ Boost starter-alternator makes an additional 22PS and 250 Nm for short durations. The engine is mated with a...

720-hp V8 Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series is extremely powerful

This is the new Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series - a car that packs the most powerful series-production V8 engine that AMG has yet made. Directly inspired by the AMG GT3 race cars, it is fitted with a 720-hp V-8 engine and a plethora of changes that set it apart sharply from any other AMG GT, including the wild GT R. The result is a claimed 0-62mph time of 3.2sec, 0-124mph in 9.0sec and a top speed of 202mph (325kmph). The M178 engine, a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V-8, has been modified so extensively that it receives its own identifier, now called the M178 LS2. A major change is the move away from a cross-plane crankshaft. The LS2 now uses a lighter, flat-plane crankshaft that spins more freely to allow for even more aggressive throttle response. The LS2 features a di...

2021 Mercedes-AMG E63 S : More comfort, same power

The 2021 Mercedes-AMG E63 S lineup is here, and it's chock full of improvements. No, said improvements don't extend to the powertrain. The new E63 retains the previous version’s 4.0-litre V8 biturbo engine, which produces 603hp and 850Nm of torque in the top-line S version. Power continues to be sent to all four wheels through a 9-speed automatic gearbox. The front end gets the A-shaped grille inspired by the Panamericana 300SL; it is beautifully integrated and gives this AMG a far more aggressive look than before. Twelve vertical slats emphasize the vehicle's family resemblance to the AMG GT range. The rear end of the sedan gets a significant makeover as well: the previously vertical, egg-shaped taillights are replaced by horizontal taillights that give the E63 a more tight...
