Kia Carens MPV scores 3-star Global NCAP safety rating

The Kia Carens has scored a 3-star rating for both adult and child occupant protection in the latest round of crash tests by the Global New Car Assessment Programme (GNCAP). The India-spec Kia Carens MPV was tested in its most basic safety specification, fitted with two frontal airbags, two side-body airbags, and two side head protection airbags. ESC is also a standard fit in this spec. An average 3-star rating is, therefore, surprising. The Kia Carens were also side-impact tested and fulfilled the UN95 regulatory requirement. Kia Carens MPV makes global debut in India

The Kia Carens has finally been unveiled. Slated for a market launch early next year, the Carens is the Korean carmaker’s fourth product here.  The Kia Carens is targeted at modern Indian families and so it has a fairly long footprint, a straight roofline and an upright stance for that quintessential MPV appeal. Now the Carens name isn't new for Kia. The company used to sell a compact MPV named Carens in Korea between 1999 and 2018, however, globally it was more popularly known as Kia Rondo.
