Ford will stop producing cars in India. Brand not exiting the market completely

Ford announced today that manufacturing of vehicles for local sale will cease immediately while export manufacturing will wind down at the Sanand plant by Q4 2021, and the Chennai engine and vehicle plants by Q2 2022. Ford recently launched the Figo AT in the Indian market. The facelift of the Ecosport was all set to launch in the festive season. Recently, a Bi-turbo version of the Endeavour was also spotted with an emission testing kit. Ford was among the first multi-national automotive companies to enter our market back in 1994. Ford Figo 1.2-litre petrol now gets 6-speed automatic option at INR 7.75 lakh

Ford has reintroduced the automatic transmission for Figo. Ford had earlier discontinued the automatic transmission back in 2020. AT is available with the Titanium variant and Ford has introduced a new Titanium+ variant. The prices of the Figo AT starts at Rs. 7.75 lakhs ex-showroom. The automatic transmission is derived from the Ecosport and is a 6-speed unit. The new 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox on the Figo has been paired to the existing 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine on the hatchback. This engine produces 96hp and 119Nm of torque, which makes the Figo more powerful than all its rivals. The diesel engine on the Figo does not get an automatic gearbox option. Ford Endeavour Sport launched at INR 35.10 lakh

Ford has launched the Endeavour Sport in India. The SUV is priced at INR 35.10 lakh (ex-showroom, India). The Sport is a cosmetic update with no mechanical changes having been made. The Endeavour Sport is the new top variant in the Endeavour range and is equipped with 4-wheel drive. It features black exterior details like smoked LED headlamps, a black front grille, black roof rails, new black alloys and SPORT decals on doors & tailgate. The SUV also gets black ORVMs, fender grille and side steps. New Ford Bronco is back after 24 years

After a 24-year break, the Bronco is back. The Bronco was launched by Ford as a two-door Jeep rival in 1965 but has been out of production since 1996. The model features ‘heritage-inspired’ styling designed to evoke the Bronco’s history, with the firm saying initial design work was developed from a full-size digital scan of a first-generation model. The Bronco will be offered with a 2.3-litre Ecoboost four-cylinder engine producing 266bhp and 310lb ft (420Nm), and a 2.7-litre Ecoboost V6 offering 306bhp and 400lb ft (542Nm). The Ford S-MAX and Galaxy have been awarded the maximum 5-star safety rating by independent crash test authority Euro NCAP. The S-MAX and Galaxy are offered for the first time with second-row seat side-airbags for additional passenger side-impact protection, and also offer first and second-row seatbelt pre-tensioners with load limiters to further enhance rear passenger safety. In addition, S-MAX and Galaxy gets Pre-Collision Assist with Pedestrian Detection technology that can reduce the severity of some frontal collisions involving vehicles and pedestrians. 2015 Geneva: Ford EcoSport without a rear-mounted spare wheel

Ford at Geneva showcased the EcoSport Compact SUV without a rear-mounted spare wheel. Apart from major upgrade on the rear end, the updated EcoSport gets restyled instrument cluster with chrome surround, light dimming function and chrome tips for window switches. EcoSport's  suspension unit has been retuned and the ride height has been reduced by 10mm. Noise, vibration and harshness levels have also been reduced with thicker sound deadening materials in the doors and dashboard, as well as tighter seals around the pedals. The Ford EcoSport with a rear-mounted spare wheel is available as an optional feature. (more…)
