Tata Motors is working on a bigger Nano. Codenamed Pelican, the car was spotted on the outskirts of Pune under heavy camouflage. The car would be based on the Nano platform and positioned between the GenX Nano and the recently launched Tiago.
Observations from the spy pics:
- Front styling has been altered something like the Nano Europa concept.
- Most of the body panels is shared with the Nano GenX. This could change in the final production version.
- The test mule sports 13-inch tyres instead of the current 12-inch, which means the Pelican will be powered by a higher capacity engine.
- The fuel fill inlet’s position will be shifted from under the bonnet to a more conventional location on the rear fender.
- The wiper unit, it now has a double arm design,
- The windshield washer unit is placed at the centre of the bonnet.
- Interior to get with major revamp.

- The Pelican will feature an all-new dashboard and new seats.
- The instrument cluster is placed behind the steering wheel instead of the usual centre position.
- The steering wheel is lifted from the Nano GenX.
- AC vents at the centre are similar to the ones seen on the Tiago hatchback,
- The car features the Harman ConnectNext infotainment system used in the Tiago.
- Larger capacity 3-cylinder engine producing 60 hp is expected and will be competing against the likes of the Alto 800, Renault Kwid, Hyundai Eon and the Datsun RediGO.
