The 2016 Hyundai Tucson was snapped testing in Pune by Team TECH ‘N WHEELZ. The upcoming Tuscon will bridge the segment gap between the SantaFe premium SUV and the Creta Compact SUV in Hyundai India’s portfolio.
The Tucson is expected to be launched during the August-September period this year.
Globally, the model is available with a 2.0-litre diesel engine, a 1.7-litre diesel engine and a 1.4-litre petrol engine. It is believed that a 2.0 litre diesel motor and and a 2.0 litre MPI four cylinder engine from the 2016 Hyundai Elantra will make it to the India spec model.
Initially, the model is likely to be introduced only with a six speed m annual transmission while a six speed automatic gearbox could arrive sometime later. An AWD system could be offered in the top-end diesel model.
According to reports, the SUV will be assembled at the Chennai plant of the carmaker via CKD kits, which could be shipped from Czech Republic or Korea.
Expect prices of the Tucson to start where the Creta ends – around INR 15 lakhs, ex-Showroom, New Delhi.
