The launch of the much talked about Mahindra KUV100 ‘Kool Utility Vehicle’ is nearing. Expected to be priced between INR 4.5 lakh to INR 6.5 lakh the KUV, even though not a hatchback, will be competing against the cars namely the Maruti Suzuki Swift, Celerio, Hyundai Grand i10 and Chevrolet Beat.
Mahindra unveiled the exterior styling of the KUV100 compact SUV through official images few weeks ago. Interior and other details were not revealed. Here are few spy photos that shows the KUV100’s interiors ahead of its official launch which will take place on January 15, 2016.
The KUV100 will be the company’s most affordable passenger vehicle that is marketed as a compact SUV. It is the second Mahindra model to ride on a monocoque platform after the flagship product, the Mahindra XUV500.

The compact SUV will come in four variants – K2, K4, K6 and K8. Mahindra has announced that KUV100 will have ABS as standard across all variants and dual airbags will be optional right from the base variant.
The KUV100 is likely to come as a six-seater, and with the spy shots it has been confirmed that even the top-spec trim will be sold in a six-seat layout. A five-seat layout is also expected as an option.
In the six seat configuration, the front row gets a bench seat just like the Datsun Go with the gear lever moved to the dashboard. The handbrake lever is positioned below the centre console, and gets a pull-type mechanism.
The KUV100’s cabin gets two rectangular AC vents that sit on top of the centre console.
Powering the KUV100 will be the new series of petrol and diesel engines named mFalcon. The petrol engine is the 1.2-liter three cylinder (mFalcon G80) based on SsangYong Tivoli’s 1.6 litre engine and will produce 82 [email protected] rpm and a max torque of 115 [email protected] rpm.
The diesel engine is the 1.2 litre mFalcon D75 that produces max. power of 77 bhp @ 3750 rpm and torque of 190 Nm @ 1750-2250 rpm.
The higher variants is expected to come fully loaded with infotainment system, daytime-running lights, Micro hybrid feature and driving modes.
It will be available in seven colours namely Fiery Orange, Flamboyant Red, Dazzling Silver, Aquamarine, Pearl White, Designer Grey and Midnight Black.
