Yamaha Motor India has launched the Aerox 155 maxi-scooter in the country priced at ₹ 1.29 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The new offering will compete at the premium end of the scooter segment but is by far the only of its kind to go on sale.
The new maxi-scooter will start arriving at the company’s dealerships by the end of September. It is available in three colour options – Racing Blue, Grey Vermillion and the Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP Edition.
One of the biggest highlights of the new Aerox 155 is, as its name suggests, the 155cc, VVA, single-cylinder engine that’s based on the one that R15 uses. In global markets, the Aerox makes 15.36hp and 13.9Nm, while the Indian version makes 15hp and 13.9Nm.
The chassis on the new Yamaha Aerox 155 gets a trail that is 5 mm longer for enhanced straight-line stability. This allows for a more motorcycle-like feel, the company says, while retaining the scooter’s handling capabilities. The scooter uses a 26 mm telescopic front suspension, while the rear gets dual shock absorbers with the mounting angle increased by 2-degrees for improved pillion comfort. Braking performance comes from a 230 mm disc brake at the front with ABS.
The new Aerox 155 is equipped with Smart Motor Generator System, automatic start/stop system, LCD instrument console with MID unit that showcases a speedometer, RPM, VVA indicator and Y-Connect App Phone notifications, Maintenance recommendations, Last parked location, fuel consumption, malfunction notification, revs dashboard, and ranking. There’s also a two-level seat, optional USB charger and 24.5 litres of under-seat storage.
