Spied: Royal Enfield 650cc Cruiser. Global unveil likely soon

A new set of spy shots have emerged on the internet of what very well appears to be the Royal Enfield 650 Cruiser. According to RideApart, it could be the first glimpse of a real-world SG650 Concept. That certainly appears to be the case as the styling cues are similar to the Interceptor 650.

There have been quite a number of RE spy shots. To list some, we’ve seen multiple iterations of the 650cc, a scrambler-based version of the 350cc, the upcoming Scram 411 (Himalayan-based) and more. However, there has been no word on if the J-Series engine will be making its way to the Bullet lineup anytime soon.

Being a retro motorcycle, it continues the theme of circular elements. The headlamp, tail lamp and turn indicators are circular. The rear tail lamp is the same unit that we have seen on the Super Meteor. The handlebar is wide and the footpegs are centre set. The fuel tank is teardrop-shaped giving the motorcycle an old-school look. There are two panniers mounted on the sides and there is a top box also. Wire-spoked wheels with single disc brakes appear in most of these photos. Additionally, there’s neither fairing nor windscreen to be seen in most of these photos—again, except for that one variation.

The engine is expected to be the same 648 cc, parallel-twin that is air-oil cooled. It produces 47 PS of max power and 52 Nm of peak torque. The engine comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox with a slip and assists clutch. However, cosmetically, the engine looks slightly different. The exhausts are also different from what we have seen on the Interceptor and GT. They are no longer up-swept units, they are straight which suits the look of a retro motorcycle.
