Honda CB500X launched in India at INR 6.87 lakh

The adventure motorcycle segment has surely gathered pace in recent months with attractive new offerings from several brands in India. Currently, this segment boasts of entry-level ADV motorcycles like Hero Xpulse 200, Royal Enfield Himalayan, BMW G 310 GS, KTM 250 Adventure and 390 Adventure. Now Honda has made an entry into the middleweight adventure touring space with the CB500X.

Priced at Rs 6.87 lakh, the CB500X is powered by a 471cc, parallel-twin, liquid-cooled motor that produces 47.5hp and 43.2Nm of torque. This unit is linked to a six-speed gearbox with a slipper and assist clutch for quick gear shifts. The CB500X rides on a conventional 41mm fork and a preload-adjustable monoshock, offering a ground clearance of 181mm. It gets 19-inch front and 17-inch rear alloy wheels. The seat height, meanwhile, is 830mm.

It rides on 19-inch front and 17-inch rear alloy wheels with 110/80 and 160/60 section of tyres respectively. Braking duties are handled by 320mm front and 230mm rear disc brakes. Going by these numbers, it looks as if it is more of a road-biased adventure tourer. Globally it is considered one of the best adventure motorcycles in its segment.

Lighting on the CB500X is handled by LEDs all around. It also features Honda Ignition Security System (HISS) theft deterrent. The negative LCD also shows information like the gear position, engine temperature and other basic information. Lastly, the X also gets a tall windscreen that’s expected to provide ample wind protection.
