Hero Xoom launched at INR 68,599/- Features cornering lights

Hero has launched the Xoom, its first scooter of the year. The vehicle is available in three variants – LX, VX and ZX. These are priced at INR 68,599, INR 71,799 and INR76,699, respectively (all prices ex-showroom).. These prices are introductory and it is unclear at the moment till when they will be offered, before a price hike.

In terms of design, the Xoom is a good-looking scooter. At the front, it gets an LED projector headlamp with an H-shaped LED DRL. There are sporty cuts and creases on the body lines, multi-spoke alloy wheels, and an H-shaped LED taillamp.

The Hero Xoom features the same 110.9cc engine as the Maestro Edge 110 and the Pleasure+, and it is also in the same state of tune. The air-cooled, single-cylinder mill churns out 8.1hp at 7,250rpm and 8.7Nm of torque at 5,750rpm. All variants of the Xoom are equipped with Hero’s i3s start/stop technology, which can be turned off as well.

The chassis is the same unit as Hero’s other 110cc offerings but has been tweaked specifically for the Xoom. The telescopic fork and monoshock setup is entirely new.

The Hero Xoom is a feature-rich 110cc scooter. It gets segment-first cornering lights, which is a first for the 110cc scooter segment and even a few segments above. Essentially, these lights illuminate the road in the direction the scooter leans. The scooter has a gyroscopic/accelerometer sensor that sends the signal to the cornering lamps once the scooter is leaned into a corner. The cornering lamps don’t come on when the scooter is stationary and the handlebar is turned. The scooter has to be in motion.

The Hero Xoom features a digital instrument cluster that shows a host of information, including a digital speedometer, odometer, trip meter, clock, real-time mileage, etc. The Xoom also gets Bluetooth connectivity and shows caller ID & SMS alerts on the dash.

The suspension duties on the Xoom are handled by telescopic front forks and it gets a single shock absorber at the rear. For braking duties, it gets a 190 mm disc / 130 mm drum at the front and a 130 mm drum at the rear with an integrated braking system.
