If there’s two things that are hugely popular in motorcycling these days, it’s retro motorcycles and adventure bikes. The Italian brand Ducati has unveiled arguably the most exciting bike of the lot, the eagerly anticipated DesertX at this year’s Ducati World Premiere 2022.
The Italian motorcycle manufacturer says that this new model has been designed to perfectly tackle the most demanding off-road conditions.
The Ducati DesertX has a 21-inch front and 18-inch rear wire-spoke wheels. They are fitted with Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR tyres. The motorcycle uses a pair of 46 mm USD Kayaba forks at the front and a Kayaba mono-shock at the rear. The entire suspension setup is adjustable for compression, rebound and preload.
Being an off-road-focused motorcycle, the Ducati DesertX has a ground clearance of 250 mm. The seat height is set at 875 mm, however, a lowered saddle is available as an accessory. The fuel tank capacity is 21-litres that can be further expanded via a second fuel tank which Ducati is offering as an accessory. The total dry weight of the DesertX is 202 kg.
Powering the Ducati DesertX is a 937cc, liquid-cooled, V-twin engine that can also be found on the Multistrada V2. It churns out 108 BHP @ 9,250 rpm and 92 Nm @ 6,500 rpm.
In terms of electronics, the DesertX is equipped with 6 riding modes, 4 power modes, engine brake control, traction control, wheelie control, cornering ABS and bi-directional quick-shifter. The motorcycle is also fitted with full-LED lighting and a 5-inch TFT display.
