Suzuki’s popular retro-inspired Katana roadster has got a significant makeover for 2022. The new model receives revisions to its engine platform, electronic rider aids suite, and aesthetic details among other things.
The Katana shares its platform with the GSX-S1000. The semi-faired litre-class bike features a retro-modern look. It has a rectangular LED headlamp and a short tail section.
The modern-day Katana is powered by a 999cc inline-four engine. For 2022, it gets new intake and exhaust camshafts, valve springs, exhaust and airbox it’s now not only Euro5 compliant but power is up from 148 to 150bhp with a broader spread of mid-range torque.
The 2022 Katana comes with the Suzuki Riding Mode Selector System with three engine modes, ride-by-wire throttle, a bi-directional quick shifter paired with a new Suzuki Clutch Assist System and five-way traction control. Also, there is the easy start system that avoids stalling at slow speeds. The updated digital dashboard also gets a new red ‘night’ mode.
The Katana is based on a lightweight, twin-spar aluminium frame. It rides on fully-adjustable KYB front forks, with an adjustable mono-shock at the rear. Braking duties are handled by dual 310 mm front discs with Brembo calipers and a single disc at the rear.
