2020 Italjet Dragster’s production to start soon

Italjet has confirmed that the production of the latest Dragsters – the 125 and the 200 – will begin soon in Italy. The scooter was first showcased in its current form at EICMA 2018.

The Dragster comes in three versions with 125cc, 150cc or 200cc four-stroke liquid-cooled single-cylinder engines with Magneti Marelli electronic injection and a double overhead camshaft. The Italjet Dragster 125 makes 15 hp while the 200cc model offers 20 hp.

An extreme-looking scooter like this would have been quite a sight on our roads. The exposed, bright-red trellis frame, unique front suspension and Independent Steering System (ISS) are uncommon. The 2020 Italjet Dragster features an aggressive bodywork with full LED lights, double radiators, one for each side, while the front has been designed in the wind tunnel to increase aerodynamics.

The scooter is fitted with an Independent Steering System (ISS) that has a new front single-arm made from aerospace aluminium alloy. The front suspension is fitted with horizontal BITUBO hydraulic adjustable shocks which offer no travel effect for the front-end. The ISS system has been developed by Italjet R&D and it separates steering action from suspension action, thus no vibrations are transmitted to handlebars.

The Italian brand has said that the scooter will be sold through 50 dealers in its home country and by importers in global markets like Germany, Austria, Switzerland, UK, France, Spain, Taiwan, Vietnam, Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Russia, South Africa, and South America. Two big two-wheeler markets that are missing in this list are North America and India, sadly.

Italjet has begun taking pre-orders for 499 numbered (from 1 to 499) units of both, the 125 and the 200. The high-end equipment does mean that these limited-edition scooters won’t be cheap. In fact, they’ll likely be three times more expensive than our conventional 125cc scooters.
