Rural India is seeing a new concept of ambulance called the Motorcycle Ambulance. An innovative, cost-effective solution--a comprehensive motorcycle ambulance system  that helps the needy patients to  get timely medical aid. The USP is that it can be operated in hard to reach areas. The motorcycle-ambulance is a  motorcycle fitted with  side-carriage customized for carrying patients. It is a referral ambulance, that means it only ferries the patient to the hospital. In India, the concept was introduced in the year 2015 with the authorization of UNICEF in collaboration with the Saathi Samaj Sevi Sanstha and the Health Department of the Chhattisgarh state.
