Toyota Urban Cruiser launched in India. Comes in 3 variants with MT & AT options

Toyota Urban Cruiser prices have just been announced – the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza-based compact SUV is priced between Rs 8.40 lakh and Rs 11.30 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The sub-4 meter crossover is available in three variants – Mid, High and Premium.

Available in a total of six versions – three variants and two powertrain options – the Urban Cruiser is priced quite competitive compared to Maruti’s sub-four-metre SUV. Toyota has confirmed that deliveries will begin in mid-October.

The Urban Cruiser is a re-badged Maruti Vitara Brezza. Toyota has given the crossover a reworked front fascia to differentiate it from Maruti’s version. It comes with LED projector headlamps, LED tail lights and 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels.

The interior of the Urban Cruiser looks similar to the Vitara Brezza. It has a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment head-unit with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and comes with features such as automatic climate control, cruise control, auto-dimming IRVM and rain sensing wipers. The base variant misses out on alloy wheels and touchscreen infotainment, which is replaced with a 2-DIN audio system with Bluetooth connectivity.

Considering the Toyota compact SUV is a badge-engineered version of the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, it’s a petrol-only model. Both sub-four-metre SUVs are mechanically identical – a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder naturally aspirated engine, which makes 105hp and 138Nm of peak torque, sends power to the front wheels via either a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed torque convertor automatic gearbox.
