Maruti Suzuki Eeco New Gen will be launched by the end of this year. We can expect the company to unveil the product around the festive season. Since there’s no direct competition to Eeco, it will continue to garner record sales in both PV and CV segments.
According to a media report, Maruti Suzuki will discontinue the Eeco van later this year. It will make way for the next-generation model, rumoured to be launched around August-September 2022. The Eeco was introduced back in 2010. Maruti sold over 1 lakh units within just 2-years of its launch, and by 2018, sales had crossed the 5 lakh unit mark. At present, the Eeco is available in either 5-seat or 7-seat configurations. Maruti also offers a cargo variant of the van.
Details of the new model are scarce. The new model is expected to get basic features like AC, power steering, steering adjustment and seat adjustment as standard.
To keep the cost down, it is expected to stay mostly true to the current-gen Eeco in terms of design and construction. Instead of the current 1.2L G12B petrol engine making 72 bhp and 98 Nm coupled with a 5-speed manual transmission – we can expect the new gen EECO 2022 model to get updated engine. Power and torque figures might also increase. CNG EECO will also be on offer.
Currently, the Eeco is powered by a 1.2-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine that produces 72 BHP and 101 Nm. The van also comes with a factory-fitted CNG kit. When running on CNG, the engine output drops to 62 BHP and 85 Nm. Both variants come with a 5-speed manual transmission.
