The Gloster was first showcased in India back at the 2020 Auto Expo. The Gloster is a re-badged version of the Maxus D90 that is sold in the Chinese market and the carmaker’s new flagship SUV has been launched in India with a starting introductory price of Rs 28.98 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

The MG Gloster is powered by a 2.0-litre diesel engine, which comes in two states of tune. In the Super and Smart variants, the engine comes with a single turbocharger and makes 161 BHP @ 4,000 rpm and 375 Nm @ 1,500-2,400 rpm. These variants don’t get 4-wheel drive.

An 8-speed automatic gearbox is offered as standard across all variants. The SUV rides on 255/55-section tyres and gets independent suspension at the front and a 5-link suspension at the rear.

The Smart trim (priced at Rs 30.98 lakh) adds features like a sunroof, paddle shifters, 3-zone climate control, MG’s ‘i-Smart’ connected car tech, and Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support, to name a few. It can only be had in a six-seat configuration, with captain seats in the middle row.
