Mercedes Benz has released official sketch and a teaser video of the upcoming 2016 E-Class, which highlight the spanking new features to be introduced in the executive sedan.
The new E-Class rides on Mercedes’ modular MRA platform, which debuted in the C-Class and has since made its way into the new GLC small SUV. This means the new E-Class will be lighter, more rigid and more efficient than the current one.
The teaser video previews Mercedes’ Multibeam LED headlamps wherein the individual LED count increases from 24 to 84, each individually controllable—switching between high- and low-beams, and the curve-following adaptive-lighting functions are now achieved entirely via electronics.
The sedan is slated for debut at the North American International Auto Show starting from January 11, 2016.
The 2016 Mercedes-Benz E-Class will come loaded with features like sensors, cameras, and radar units that will enable drivers to park their car without being in it, talk to other cars, see the night as if it were day, read traffic signs, and transform a smartphone into a key.
The car won’t be completely autonomous, meaning a person is going to have to sit in the driver’s seat, but this car demonstrates how much safer the world could become.
