Hyundai unveils i20 facelift with styling tweaks, new features, and ADAS

Hyundai has unveiled the refreshed i20 that will soon be available for sale in Europe. Although sources state that it will take some time for the i20 facelift to be launched in India. The current third-gen i20 model was introduced overseas in mid-2020, and in India towards the end of the same year.

One significant addition to the i20 is the inclusion of Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) as standard. The Indian version of the i20 facelift is still in the works and will likely have similar design tweaks with updates to the powertrains, tyre sizes, and equipment. The i20 sold in India currently comes with a choice of either a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol or a 1.0-litre direct injection turbo-petrol engine with various transmission options. It competes with other popular models such as the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Tata Altroz, and Toyota Glanza.

In terms of design, the mid-life update for the i20 features minimal changes to the interior and exterior. There are subtle styling tweaks to the front and rear bumper, grille, and chin, while the headlamps remain unchanged. The refreshed i20 also has a repositioned Hyundai logo with a new 2D design, a new alloy wheel design, and additional exterior paint shades.

The i20 facelift for the European market will be built in Turkey and will continue to be sold with a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine with 48V mild-hybrid tech, available with either a seven-speed DCT automatic or a six-speed manual.

Hyundai has several upcoming launches planned for the Indian market, including the all-new Exter micro SUV later this year, followed by the Creta facelift and the Creta N Line in early 2023.
