BMW X7 M50d – range topping trim launched in India

The top-spec X7 M50d has been priced at ₹1.63 crores (ex-showroom, India). The German carmaker’s flagship SUV is now available in four variants – the 30d DPE (Rs 92.50 lakh), the 30d DPE Signature (Rs 1.02 crore), the 40i M Sport (Rs 1.07 crore) and the M50d.

The BMW X7 M50d is powered by a 3.0-litre, in-line six-cylinder, quad-turbocharged diesel engine that produces 400hp and 760Nm of torque. The engine is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission as standard, which sends power to all-four wheels via BMW’s xDrive system. The M50d does 0-100kph in a claimed 5.4secs and has a limited top speed of 250kph.

The new BMW X7 M50d comes with a host of features and equipment. Most of them are carried over from the current model on sale, although there are a few additional equipment available as well.

Visually, the BMW X7 M50d looks largely similar to the regular X7, save for a few cosmetic updates, namely – a more aggressive-looking front bumper with a larger air dam and intakes featuring a mesh pattern grille and repositioned LED foglamps.

Other visual elements as part of the M package include – M badge on front left and right-side panels, new sporty exhaust with tailpipe trim strip, exterior mirror housing and the X7 and M50d badging on the tailgate, all finished in in Cerium Grey shade. The SUV comes with a set of 21-inch double-spoke style M light-alloy wheels, and optional 22-inch wheels are also available.

Inside, the M50d is loaded to the gills with features. The lengthy equipment list includes a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and gesture control, Bowers and Wilkins sound system, digital instrument cluster, a three-piece glass sunroof, Laser LED headlights, soft-close doors, five-zone automatic climate control, ambient lighting, air suspension, wireless charging and reclining function for all three rows of seats.

Safety features includes airbags, ABS, traction control, electronic stability control, adaptive cruise control, park assist (autonomous parking), a 360-degree camera and front and rear parking sensors.

Buyers can also customise their SUV as per their taste, with the help of the optional extras from BMW Individual.
