2020 Mahindra Thar spied with production body. Unveil on 15th August

The next-generation Mahindra Thar will be unveiled on 15th August 2020. Ahead of the launch, the homegrown automaker continues to text pre-production models of the same on Indian roads. Latest spy images reveals new details related to this upcoming product.

The design of the 2020 Mahindra Thar is an evolution over the current model rather than a revolution. The new Thar will be longer, wider as well as taller. Also, the new version will get a hard-top variant, unlike the older generation model. New design includes an all-new front fascia with a larger vertical-slat grille, new headlamps, LED DRLs, reworked bumpers at both ends, LED taillamp; among others.

The Thar runs on a five-spoke 18-inch alloy wheels with gun-metal finish. shod with Ceat CZAR A/T all-terrain tyres with 255/65 R18 profile.

The interiors are going to get a major overhaul. In sync with the Thar’s niche segment of a lifestyle vehicle, the cabin of the new version will be upgraded with all the latest features and creature comforts. This includes a new touchscreen infotainment system that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a semi-digital new instrument cluster with two analogue dials placed on either side of MID, and an automatic climate control system.

It will also feature a new steering wheel design with mounted cruise and audio controls. forward-facing rear-seats, and a folding key fob; among others.

The 2020 Thar will also feature improved crash protection and pedestrian safety as well. The standard safety net is expected to include an ABS, a seat-belt reminder, dual front airbags, a speed alert and more.

Under the hood, the 2020 Mahindra Thar is speculated to get a new diesel engine. This oil-burner will boast of better power and torque figures in comparison to the current engine which is a 2.5-litre, unit that is good for 105 hp of power. The new engine will be BS6 compliant and will be paired to a 6-speed manual gearbox. Power will be sent to all the four-wheels.
