Jeep’s all-new C-segment competitor, the Compass makes its debut in Brazil. Based on a stretched version of the Renegade platform, the Compass is expected to have petrol and diesel engines with a choice of 6-speed as well as 9-speed automatic transmissions.
According to FCA (Fiat Chrysler Automobiles), globally 17 powertrain options will be available. The new SUV is based on the stretched version of the Renegade platform, called the “Small Wide 4×4” architecture. The SUV is expected to be available in front-wheel as well as four-wheel drive configurations.
The Jeep Compass is currently produced at FCA’s Jeep Assembly Plant in Goiana, Pernambuco. India production will happen in 2017 at FCA’s Ranjangaon plant near Pune.
The vehicle will be showcased at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November.
