2016 Skoda Superb has been spied in China with minimal camouflage showing off its some distinct design elements. The car is expected to arrive in India in late 2015 or early 2016. The car will make its debut early next year with a public showcasing to happen at the Geneva Motor Show of 2015.
The 2015 Superb will use Volkswagen group’s MQB platform and will share plenty of parts with the 2015 Passat, which made its debut earlier this year.
The Superb will have a longer wheelbase for better rear passenger legroom, while remaining under 5-meters
In design terms, the 2016 Superb is essentially a production version of the Skoda Vision C concept. Just like the new Octavia and Fabia, the new Superb too will feature a sharper exterior look, making the car look more sporty and aggressive than outgoing model. The front end sports a design overhaul with new projector headlamps and LED DRLs. Rear end gets new taillight clusters and redesigned bumper unit.
Interiors too will receive a major overhaul including upgrades to upholstery and equipment levels The car will continue to sport a liftback design wherein boot and rear wind shield rise together.
The new Superb will receive a range of petrol and diesel engine options.
The power-trains found in the Passat are expected to be utilized on the new Superb, including VW’s 240 PS 2.0-liter TDI, paired to manual and dual-clutch DSG transmission system. Lower displacement variants such as a 1.6-litre TDI & 1.8-litre TSI could be offered as well.
WCF reports that the the new Superb will be 20mm longer and 50mm wider but despite the enlarged size it will drop up to 75 kg. The cargo capacity will be boosted to 625 liters with the rear seats up and to 1,760 liters once you fold them down.
